MONROVIA, Liberia — Former Assistant Minister for Public Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saywhar Nana Gbaa, has assumed a new diplomatic assignment as Minister Counselor for Public Affairs at the Liberian Mission in Brussels, Belgium.
Gbaa described the transition as more than a change in title or duty station, but as a renewed opportunity to serve Liberia, represent the country’s national interests, and contribute to its public diplomacy and international engagement.
Reflecting on her tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gbaa expressed gratitude for the experience, describing the period as a journey of learning, professional growth, meaningful relationships, and dedicated public service.
She extended appreciation to the leadership and staff of the Ministry, colleagues, partners, friends, and members of the media who supported and collaborated with her throughout her previous assignment.
“As I take up this assignment in Brussels, I do so with gratitude for the past, humility for the present, and optimism for what lies ahead,” Gbaa said.
In her new role, Gbaa said she looks forward to strengthening Liberia’s engagement with the media, diplomatic community, development partners, and the wider international community.
She also pledged to contribute to telling Liberia’s story with greater clarity and purpose while helping strengthen relations between Liberia and Belgium, the European Union, and other international partners.
Gbaa reaffirmed her commitment to the principles that have guided her public service, including integrity, professionalism, purposeful communication, and an unwavering commitment to Liberia’s national interests.
She emphasized that although her assignment and location have changed, her commitment to serving Liberia remains constant.
“A new chapter begins—but the mission remains the same: to serve Liberia with distinction, purpose, and dedication,” Gbaa stated.
As she begins her diplomatic assignment in Brussels, Saywhar Nana Gbaa says she moves forward with gratitude for her past service and optimism about the opportunity to contribute to Liberia’s diplomatic mission on the international stage.
